People Branch is looking for innovative and forward thinking HR professionals who can help us modernise and transform the way we work to support the delivery of strategic and operational HR functions for the Department, along with shared services for the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA).
The focus of People Branch is to build a high performance culture across the Department, and deliver a fit-for-purpose HR services that enhance candidate and business area experience. The team achieves this through operational and strategic activities and partnering arrangements to deliver a range of recruitment services, employment conditions and Senior Executive Service (SES) related services to the Department and NIAA.
We are seeking dynamic individuals with a genuine passion for people, who can provide HR advice with a focus on customer service through flexible and tailored HR practices.
We have immediate vacancies at the APS5, APS6 and EL1 levels within the SES Unit, HR Help, Recruitment and Employment Conditions teams. This recruitment process will be used to fill current and future vacancies (ongoing and non-ongoing) across People Branch.

Our Ideal Candidates
We are looking for high performers with an interest in, knowledge of, and experience in HR. Experience leading and managing a team is desired, as well as a good understanding of HR-related issues, legislation and Australian Public Service (APS) employment frameworks.
Our ideal candidates will have a positive and proactive attitude. They must be able to manage multiple priorities be resilient, responsive and flexible. You will have the ability to navigate ambiguity, are solutions focussed, can think on your feet and are able to work under limited direction. Our ideal candidates will also have excellent attention to detail and the ability to pick up new processes, systems and knowledge quickly.
You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, which will allow you to provide a high level of customer service and engage effectively with stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels of seniority. You will also be able to understand and engage with the priorities and operating environment of the Department and the broader APS to contribute strategically to HR and wider organisational strategies.

To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen at the closing date of application.
The occupant must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline level security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.
Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for a specified term
This recruitment process may be used to fill both ongoing and non-ongoing positions. The non-ongoing positions will be offered for a specified term of 10 months, with the possibility of extension.
