Living abroad and supported by a dedicated team of local experts, you play a crucial role in orchestrating export opportunities for Australian businesses and leveraging your extensive industry and partner network to attract new investment to Australia.

Galvanising your commercial acumen/expertise, creativity and knack for executing ‘those great deals’, you will lead a team poised to leverage every opportunity to connect Australia to the world. By helping Australian business to grow exports, and attracting productive foreign direct investment into Australia, Trade and Investment Commissioners help Australia and Australians to compete, connect, innovate and grow on a global scale.

We are looking for Trade and Investment Commissioners to be located in Accra, Bogota, China, Houston, Jakarta, Johannesburg, Mumbai, New Delhi, Paris, Sao Paulo, Tokyo and Warsaw at the APS Executive Level 2 classification.


The successful applicant must be an Australian citizen and have, or be willing to undergo a security clearance to the level of Negative Vetting 2 as a condition of employment.

Proficiency in the local languages is highly preferred for positions in Brazil, China, Colombia, France and Japan, and preferred for all other locations.

Successful candidates will be required to commence employment in an Austrade office within Australia, six months prior to prior to posting overseas. Postings will be offered for a period of up to 3 years with the possibility of extension.
